Andoni Iraola Confirms Liverpool’s hunt for a massive winger
Andoni Iraola Confirms Liverpool’s pursuit of a massive winger, according to a report in Transfer News, as the club scrambles to replace Mohamed Salah after his departure. The new head coach has placed strengthening the attack at the top of his agenda, and the recruitment team is already working on the deal.
The new head coach has made reinforcing the attack a top priority, and the recruitment staff are actively negotiating the signing. He told liverpoolfc.com that the club cannot afford to wait for a perfect replacement.
Iraola said: “We need someone in that area but probably will have different skills than Mo Salah.” He admitted Salah’s output cannot be replaced in a neat, tidy way.
Iraola added that the replacement will require a different profile, a new idea and, very likely, a significant transfer fee.
Victor Munoz has arrived from Osasuna and may prove useful over a long season. However, Iraola warned that squad depth should not be confused with a front‑line solution.
Earlier in the window Yan Diomande was viewed as a serious option, but after the Ivorian turned Liverpool down the route has gone cold. The recruitment team is therefore moving quickly to secure an alternative.
Ibrahim Mbaye is another name that fits the brief – young, high‑ceiling and available this summer. The club’s plans suggest he could be pushed hardest in the deal.
If Liverpool secure the winger, the move could define the attack’s evolution; if not, the burden on the remaining forwards will become severe. Iraola has said the club is actively addressing the situation.
