Newtonmore stretch Premiership lead as Kingussie falter on Skye

🇬🇧 By 4AllFootball Editorial ·

Newtonmore secured a 2-1 win on Skye, extending their Mowi Premiership lead to five points and putting Kingussie, a game behind, under pressure. The victory came in the second half of the match and marked a crucial step in the title race.

Iain Robinson broke Skye's resistance early in the second half and added a second goal ten minutes later. Jordan Murchison responded for the hosts, pulling one back before the final whistle.

Kingussie's challenge was halted by a goalless draw away at Caberfeidh, leaving them with a game in hand but still trailing Newtonmore in the standings.

Third‑placed Oban Camanachd defeated Col Glen 3-1, with Connor Howe and Calum MacMillan establishing a 2-0 lead before Andrew Tyre reduced the deficit and Ross Campbell added a third goal.

Kinlochshiel enjoyed a comfortable 4-0 home win over Lochaber, racing to a 3-0 half‑time lead through Zander MacRae, Ali Nixon and Jay MacRae, before David Falconer completed the scoring.

In the National Division, leaders Glenurquhart thrashed Oban Celtic 8-0, with Daniel MacLean netting a hat‑trick, Alfie MacLeod scoring twice and five other players adding single goals; manager Iain MacLeod even played most of the game in goal.

Lovat recovered from 2-0 down to beat Kilmallie 3-2 at home, with Graeme MacMillan equalising early, Marc MacLachlan restoring Kilmallie's lead, and Danny Kelly delivering a last‑minute winner to keep Lovat two points behind Glenurquhart.

Fraser Watt starred for Inveraray in their draw on Bute, scoring four goals – an early opener, two after Josh Cowan equalised and a late equaliser – while Robert Lowrie’s double and Rory MacDonald’s strike gave Bute a brief lead.

After nine games, Oban Celtic still seek their first point and sit with a –64 goal difference, highlighting the gulf between the top of the National Division and the struggling side.
