Standard Liège sign Rayan Touzghar on three‑year deal with option

🇧🇪 By 4All Football Editorial ·

Standard Liège have secured 22‑year‑old Franco‑Moroccan midfielder Rayan Touzghar on a three‑year contract that includes a one‑year extension clause, confirming the deal on Friday afternoon. The three‑season agreement, with an optional fourth year, marks the Belgian club’s first signing of the upcoming campaign.

The signing was announced through an official club communiqué, which confirmed Touzghar as the first recruit of Standard Liège’s new campaign. The statement emphasized the completion of all formalities between Standard Liège, Pau FC and the player.

The agreement spans three seasons and grants the club the right to trigger a fourth‑year option at its discretion. Additionally, a one‑year extension clause can be activated by the club if desired.

Touzghar arrives from Pau FC, a Ligue 2 side in France, where he featured in 35 matches last season. He contributed three goals and three decisive passes during that campaign.

Standard Liège issued the comment: “Tout est réglé entre Standard de Liège, Pau FC et le milieu de terrain franco‑marocain Rayan Touzghar.” The declaration underscored the smooth completion of the transfer.

Sporting director Marc Wilmots described Touzghar as a box‑to‑box midfielder with a high work rate, a powerful left foot and solid technique. He added that the player will provide the technical staff with additional options in midfield.

Standard Liège will begin the new Belgian Pro League season on 8 August against Cercle Brugge. The acquisition aims to strengthen the midfield ahead of that opening fixture.

The club highlighted Touzghar’s Franco‑Moroccan heritage in the announcement, and the abbreviation “Li” appears in its official designation. The signing reflects Standard Liège’s active approach in the transfer market as it prepares for the campaign.
