Ronaldinho eyes comeback with Italian third‑division Ravenna
Brazilian legend Ronaldinho, now 46, is weighing an official comeback by potentially joining Italian third‑division side Ravenna, with a club presentation slated for 23 June in Miami. The move would mark his first competitive involvement since his 2015 appearance for Fluminense.
Ronaldinho officially retired from professional football in 2018, ending a career that spanned two decades. His last recorded match took place in 2015 with Brazilian club Fluminense.
Italian newspaper La dello Sport reported that a comeback is on the horizon for the former star. The outlet cited ongoing discussions about his return to the pitch.
The pink sports newspaper, known locally as the roze sportkrant, claimed Ronaldinho would sign with Ravenna. Club owner Ignazio Cipriani is said to be maintaining close contact with the Brazilian icon.
Ronaldinho began his European journey at Paris Saint‑Germain before being recruited by FC Barcelona, where his dribbling and technique left a lasting impression. While at Barcelona he collected virtually every major trophy, secured the Ballon d’Or in 2005, and later helped Brazil win the 2002 World Cup.
After his Barcelona spell he moved to AC Milan, followed by stints at several Brazilian clubs and a Mexican side. These later chapters added to a career that included 97 caps and 33 goals for the Brazil national team.
Plans indicate Ronaldinho could join a training camp in July and feature in at least one friendly match for Ravenna, with the possibility of additional games. The club envisions his involvement as both a sporting and promotional boost.
Despite the ongoing World Cup across the United States, Mexico and Canada, Ronaldinho’s presence at the tournament underscored his enduring popularity. His appearances continue to attract media attention wherever he goes.
