NEC eyes Salzburg striker as Önal exit fuels loan hunt

🇳🇱 By 4All Football Editorial ·
In the bustling NEC office, staff gathered around a screen at 15:35 on a Tuesday as transfer journalist Mounir Boualin posted that the club had set its sights on 20‑year‑old Danish forward Clement Bischoff, currently on loan from RB Salzburg. The move comes after NEC saw Basar Önal leave for LOSC Lille this summer for a fee reported in the millions, leaving a clear vacancy in the attacking line‑up. NEC’s interest in Bischoff is concrete: the Nijmegeners intend to bring the young striker in on a loan deal from the Austrian side. The Danish youth international would therefore join the Dutch club on a temporary basis. RB Salzburg, the Austrian top club, secured Bischoff a year ago for roughly €2 million, signing him from Brøndby IF. During his spell at Brøndby in Denmark, the forward recorded three goals and six assists across 29 Superliga appearances. Since his transfer to Salzburg, his output has dropped to one goal and three assists in fifteen matches. Earlier rumours also linked PSV attacker Couhaib Driouech with a move to Nijmegen, but securing the Salzburg forward appears to be a more pressing task for NEC. Bischoff, a Danish youth international, also has Kenyan roots, adding a multicultural dimension to his profile. If the loan materialises, NEC will have replaced the firepower lost with Önal, aiming to bolster their attack for the remainder of the season.
