Milan's €25 million gamble on Mount highlights United's uneasy exit

🇬🇧
Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount, who says he is outside Michael Carrick’s project, is being linked to AC Milan as the Italian side explore a summer move. Milan Press reports a valuation of around €25 million, with room for negotiation. Mount arrived at United as a Champions League winner and a player praised for pressure, rhythm and tactical responsibility. He is capable of pressing, combining, arriving late in the box and linking attacking phases with intelligence. Ruben Amorim, who coached Mount at Old Trafford, has given the green light for negotiations to begin. Amorim’s approval suggests the player is not viewed as a faded export but as someone whose qualities may need a different setting. The reported fee of €25 million is described as not absurd for a player of Mount’s pedigree, especially if United are ready to move him on. The figure is said to be negotiable downwards. Milan envision Mount alongside Christian Pulisic behind Gonçalo Ramos, creating a technically rich attacking sector. Pulisic would provide directness and acceleration, while Mount would add movement, pressing and subtlety between the lines. Ramos would offer presence, penalty‑box instinct and a focal point. Serie A has often given Premier League players the space to rediscover control, confidence and identity, which could provide Mount the rhythm he seeks. United supporters view his stalled progress as a mix of injuries, tactical changes and inconsistent selection. They see a €25 million offer as another sign of costly recruitment that has not settled into a coherent plan.
