Inter eyes Feyenoord’s Read as a cheap young Dumfries alternative

🇮🇹 By 4All Football Editorial ·

In the bustling streets of Milan, Internazionale scouts have turned their attention to 20‑year‑old Feyenoord defender Givairo Read, a potential successor to Denzel Dumfries, according to a Saturday report by the Italian sports daily Tuttosport. The report arrives as Inter, the Serie A champion, continues its quest for a right‑flank specialist.

Tuttosport Read is "strongly reminding of a young Dumfries" and positions him as a viable alternative to the Dutch international. The outlet adds that the comparison stems from Dumfries’ early years after being taken from the Netherlands.

Inter’s search for a new wing‑back has already faced setbacks. The club was outbid by Chelsea for Marco Palestra and a deal for Anan Khalaili collapsed after a failed medical examination.

According to the same source, Djed Spence now tops Inter’s shortlist, yet English international Spence does not fully suit trainer Cristian Chivu. Tottenham Hotspur also demands a fee of at least €35‑40 million for the player.

The circumstances open the door for Read, who fits Chivu’s profile of a right‑flank specialist capable of creating numerical superiority, beating opponents, and contributing goals and assists. The 20‑year‑old’s attributes align with the coach’s tactical blueprint.

Tuttosport describes Read as "a potential gamble with a considerable price" but stresses that his skill set "strongly reminds of the young Denzel Dumfries, who was taken from the Netherlands years ago". The presence of Luis Henrique and Andy Diouf at Feyenoord should ease any required adaptation period.

Like Vanderson of AS Monaco, Read is rumored to carry a price tag of roughly €30 million, making him slightly cheaper than Guela Doué of Strasbourg, another name mentioned in the transfer chatter.

De search for a wing‑back has been turbulent, with several options falling through before Read emerged as a realistic candidate.
