From Kasteel Sparta to Italy: Lauritsen seeks fresh start
Tobias Lauritsen, the 28‑year‑old Noorse striker, leaves Sparta Rotterdam as a free agent to join Sampdoria in Italy’s Serie B, with a medical scheduled for Friday. The announcement appears under the headline Van Kasteel Sparta, and the move is highlighted as Italië Lauritsen’s fresh start.
Lauritsen spent four seasons at The Castle, the nickname for Sparta Rotterdam, becoming a key player. He logged 144 appearances, scored 52 goals and provided 22 assists before his contract expired at the end of June, allowing him to leave on a free transfer.
De transfer was confirmed by Gianluca Di Marzio, who reported the signing. Lauritsen will travel to Italy on Friday for his medical, while the length of his new contract with Sampdoria remains undisclosed.
Sampdoria, once a stable mid‑table side in the Serie A, have now spent four years in the Serie B. The Italiaanse club finished thirteenth last season and are now targeting a direct promotion push.
The club’s recruitment drive already includes former Italian international Lorenzo Insigne, underscoring the ambition to reinforce the attack for a promotion‑focused campaign.
Sampdoria’s interest in Lauritsen stems from his proven goal‑scoring record in the Dutch competition, offering a proven Noorse finisher to boost their Serie B offensive options.
For Lauritsen, the move represents a new challenge after previously being linked with Feyenoord Rotterdam, a transfer that never materialised. He hopes to add value in the Italiaans league as he did in the Eredivisie.
For Sampdoria, acquiring a striker with 52 goals in 144 matches adds depth and experience, strengthening their bid for promotion and providing a fresh attacking dimension for the upcoming season.
