FC Twente eyes Zerrouki return, says 'Mooi' for the club

🇳🇱 By 4All Football Editorial ·

FC Twente are eager to seal the return of Algerian midfielder Ramiz Zerrouki, hoping to welcome him on Monday as the club looks to fill the creative void left by his under‑utilisation at Feyenoord and to build on his revived form last season.

General director Dominique Scholten announced in the club’s weekly newsletter that the transfer of Algerian midfielder Ramiz Zerrouki is in its final stage. He addressed supporters directly, confirming the deal is close to completion.

Twente expects to welcome Zerrouki on Monday and appears confident the move will materialise. Scholten added, 'Mooi dat hij terugkomt,' underscoring his enthusiasm for the player’s return.

Zerrouki rediscovered his enjoyment at Twente last season after a disappointing spell at Feyenoord, where he never truly broke through. Feyenoord had secured his services in 2023 after protracted negotiations, paying seven million euros to acquire him from Twente.

Technical director Erik ten Hag had already expressed a desire to facilitate Zerrouki’s return, despite the player still being under contract with Feyenoord for another year. VI reported on Wednesday that a transfer fee of 2.5 million euros was near agreement.

Zerrouki would become Twente’s next signing after Aske Adelgaard, Remko Pasveer and Wout Weghorst. The club is also pursuing the return of goalkeeper Jeffrey de Lange.

Twente’s upcoming friendly against AA Gent on Saturday will provide a platform for new arrivals. Weghorst is expected to make his first minutes in that match.
