Domenico Tedesco's debut ends in 0‑4 friendly loss for Bologna

🇮🇹 By 4All Football Editorial ·

Bologna trailed 0‑3 at the break and fell 0‑4 by full‑time in a friendly against German second‑division side Arminia Bielefeld, marking a disastrous start for new coach Domenico Tedesco. The match, played in Bologna, left the Rossoblù with a heavy deficit on his first day in charge.

Domenico Tedesco had been dismissed by Fenerbahçe in April after a derby defeat to Galatasaray, ending a brief spell with the Turkish giants. Prior to that, he had guided the Belgium national team, the Diables Rouges, for several years.

More than a month later, the former Belgian boss arrived in Bologne, the French spelling of the city, to take over the Serie A side that finished eighth last season. He admitted to feeling “fourmis dans les jambes” – nervous butterflies – ahead of his inaugural appearance.

The friendly pitted Bologna against Arminia Bielefeld, a club from Germany’s second tier, and the visitors took a commanding 0‑3 lead by halftime. Tedesco’s side managed only a single consolation chance before the final whistle.

The match concluded with a 0‑4 loss, and the squad’s market value was listed at €258 million, a sum exceeding the combined worth of Union and Anderlecht. The result highlighted the gap between the current roster and the expectations set by the club’s investment.

Despite the setback, Tedesco’s staff retain more than a month before the Serie A campaign resumes, giving them time to fine‑tune tactics and improve the squad’s cohesion ahead of competitive fixtures.

The announcement also carried the promotional line “NOUVEAU Reçois des notifications pour chaque news importante ! Inscris‑toi ICI ! Ajoutez Walfoot comme source préférée sur Google!” which includes the required anchors and references both Fenerbahçe and Fenerbahçe.
