Charlton Athletic Siber and Kenney lock in midfield at The Valley
Glória Siber and Gillian Kenney have each signed one‑year extensions with Charlton Athletic, securing the midfield core at The Valley for the 2026/27 season in the Women’s Super League. The deals keep the Hungarian and American internationals at the club as it prepares for another campaign.
The Addicks posted the announcements on their official website earlier today. The news confirmed that both midfielders have secured new contracts.
Siber’s contract extension was revealed first, with Kenney’s new deal following shortly after. The sequential releases underscored the club’s strategy to finalize its midfield plans promptly.
While Siber, a Hungarian midfielder, progressed through Charlton Athletic’s Professional Game Academy before breaking into the first team. She logged 13 appearances for the Addicks in Barclays WSL2 last season.
Kenney, an American midfielder, arrived at Charlton Athletic last summer. In her debut season she featured in 21 matches and scored five goals in Barclays WSL2.
Siber expressed her enthusiasm about the new deal. After signing the new contract, Siber said, "I am excited, this is my third season at Charlton. I am just happy that I got the trust from the team and the chance to prove myself more and more and keep on doing so in this environment. I am really excited, this was my dream as a little young girl, to play in the WSL, so I can’t wait."
Kenney shared her excitement for the upcoming season. Kenney added, "Very exciting! I’m super‑excited for this new season in the WSL after promotion, so super‑excited to be back. This is my home away from home, and I just love it here."
These extensions lock in the midfield core for the 2026/27 campaign. The club indicated that further Charlton Athletic squad news will be announced in due course.
Together, the players’ differing motivations highlight Charlton Athletic’s focus on nurturing talent and providing a supportive home. The continued investment in the squad suggests a stable platform for future progress.
