Roma chase Dutch winger Summerville as price talks heat up
Roma are waiting for a response from 2001‑born Dutch winger Summerville, who is owned by West Ham, as the Giallorossi intensify contact with his entourage and aim to secure the player for the Roman club while seeking to lower his €6 million asking price.
The Giallorossi are targeting a reduction of Summerville’s asking price from €6 million to €4 million plus bonuses. Lowering the fee would make the transfer more manageable for Roma.
Nevertheless, the deal remains costly, as reports suggest Roma are prepared to invest up to €45 million to acquire the Dutch winger. Roma have imposed a deadline for reaching an agreement with Summerville’s camp, determined not to repeat the Greenwood saga.
Summerville’s agent is taking time, testing interest from Manchester United and Aston Villa. Both English clubs have recently inquired about the move.
As a contingency, Roma are also monitoring other targets. They have a loan request for Garnacho from Chelsea, are eyeing the 2005‑born forward Uzun from Eintracht Frankfurt, and are tracking 19‑year‑old prospect El Mala from Cologne, who posted 13 goals and five assists last season.
Securing Summerville would give Roma a versatile Dutch winger to bolster their attack, while the player would finally leave West Ham for a club eager to integrate him into the first team.
