Everton eye attacking depth with Hannah Cain’s Merseyside return

🇬🇧 By 4AllFootball Editorial ·

Everton are seeking to bolster their attacking depth after a thin forward line, and the Toffees have turned to a familiar face to fill the gap. Twenty‑seven‑year‑old Hannah Cain returns to Merseyside on a free transfer, providing the experience the club hopes will strengthen its front line for the new season.

The Toffees announced on their official website that Cain has re‑joined Everton on a free transfer, confirming her second spell with the club. The move marks her return to Merseyside after a period away.

Cain previously featured for Everton between 2018 and 2020, establishing herself as a regular in the side. During that stint she gained valuable experience in the English top flight.

Her earlier contributions added variety to the team’s attacking options, making her a familiar face for the Toffees’ supporters. Fans recall her as part of the squad’s forward line during that period.

The forward left Leicester City last month after her contract expired at the King Power Stadium, ending a six‑year spell with the Midlands club. Her departure marked the conclusion of a period in which she added depth to Leicester’s attack.

Cain originally arrived at Everton from Sheffield FC in the summer of 2018, a move that launched her professional career in the English top flight. She moved to Leicester City in the summer of 2020 and remained there for six years, further developing her attacking repertoire.

On the international stage, Cain has earned 28 caps for Wales and scored 11 goals, underscoring her quality as a forward. Her record demonstrates her ability to influence games at the senior international level.

After sealing her Everton return, Cain said, “I am over the moon to be back. Goodison is such an amazing place and it is nice to finally be in it as a home team player. I am really excited to be a part of it.”

Cain is Everton’s second signing of the summer transfer window, and the club hopes her experience will add depth to their forward line. The addition reflects Everton’s intent to strengthen attacking options ahead of the new season.
