Rangers Pursue American Right-Back Bryan Reynolds Transfer

🇧🇪 11 June 2026

Rangers recruitment team have registered concrete interest in 24-year-old American international Bryan Reynolds. The defender is currently on the books of Belgian Pro League side Westerlo, whose contract runs until June 2027.

The interest comes as Rangers' right-back department faces a looming crisis. James Tavernier’s goal‑laden tenure in Govan is drawing to a close, and Max Aarons returned to Bournemouth after a season‑long loan that yielded only eight league starts. Behind them, Dujon Sterling, Jayden Meghoma and Tuur Rommens represent the remaining options.

Reynolds, a former FC Dallas academy graduate, is valued at roughly €3.5 million on Transfermarkt. He escaped a tough spell at AS Roma in 2022, which included a brief loan at Kortrijk. He has made 108 appearances for Westerlo, including 38 last season, and contributed two goals and four assists across all competitions. He also featured for the United States at the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup semifinal. His physical presence, speed and aggressive pressing suit the bruising nature of the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers have also been linked with a return for Scotland international Nathan Patterson from Everton. Patterson has started only three Premier League games this season and carries a history of an £11 million fee and high wages, while lacking recent match sharpness.

Westerlo are reportedly holding out for a few million euros, but a low‑million deal would address Rangers’ structural deficiency. The club hopes that European football exposure can attract Reynolds, who is fully fit and battle‑hardened, to anchor their defense.
