Milan sack Allegri after Cagliari loss, Cardinale works with Ibrahimović
AC Milan dismissed Massimiliano Allegri after a 1-2 home defeat to Cagliari. Allegri's contract had run until 2027.
The loss eliminated Milan's chance to secure Champions League qualification they already possessed. The match took place at San Siro.
Owner Gerry Cardinale also terminated the club's CEO, sporting director and technical director. The three dismissals were announced alongside Allegri's sacking.
Cardinale is now working with team advisor Zlatan Ibrahimović to locate a new head coach. Ibrahimović has been tasked with accelerating the search for a replacement.
Milan aims to appoint a new manager before the next Serie A fixture. The club hopes the appointment will revive its push for Champions League qualification.
