Allegri fired as Milan finishes sixth under second tenure

🇮🇹

Massimiliano Allegri’s second spell as AC Milan manager ended after the club finished sixth in Serie A. The 6-0 defeat to AS Roma on the final day sealed Allegri’s exit. Milan’s Scudetto challenge collapsed mid-season, dropping them from title contenders to mid-table.

Allegri returned in 2021 after a previous stint but failed to replicate earlier success. Under his leadership, Milan struggled with consistency, dropping points against direct rivals. The 6-0 loss to AS Roma epitomized the downward spiral.

The club’s hierarchy reportedly held discussions about Allegri’s future post-season. Milan’s sixth-place finish left them six points adrift of European competition. Reports indicated Allegri’s contract would not be renewed.

AC Milan sporting director Paolo Maldini confirmed the decision to part ways. Maldini cited the need for a new direction to revive the club’s ambitions. Allegri leaves with a 155-61-60 record across two Milan spells.

Rumors link Allegri to managerial roles in Southern Europe. His next destination could be in Serie A or La Liga. Allegri’s exit marks the end of an era at Milan.
