£34.5m price tag stalls Curtis Jones move as Arsenal joins Inter chase

Liverpool have set a £34.5m asking price for midfielder Curtis Jones as the transfer window reaches its final weeks. Both clubs are weighing the midfielder’s contract situation and homegrown status. Curtis Jones, 25, is an England international and a homegrown player who can operate in several midfield roles for Liverpool. Liverpool’s refusal to lower the £34.5m valuation reflects his standing in the squad despite fluctuating opportunities. Inter Milan’s rebuild has already hit obstacles, and the club’s latest offer of around £21.5m (€25m) remains far below Liverpool’s asking price. Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio reiterated the difficulty of reaching an agreement. “Minimal gap? You’re the ones saying that, the millions aren’t yours. We were interested in January and we are interested now as well. We tried and we will try again. If we meet on the valuation, good. If not, we will do something else.” Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is seeking greater depth in midfield after other targets proved hard to secure. The English club could meet Liverpool’s £34.5m price more comfortably than Inter, given Jones’s familiarity with the Premier League. Inter’s sporting director Cristian Chivu has identified Jones as a preferred midfield addition before pre‑season. Funds from a possible sale of Davide Frattesi, for whom Nottingham Forest have shown interest, could help bridge the financial gap. With multiple clubs monitoring the situation, competition generally works in favour of the selling club, reinforcing Liverpool’s confidence in its valuation. Unless Inter significantly improves its offer, the £34.5m tag is likely to remain the benchmark as the window closes.
