Daphne van Domselaar Misses Final Qualifiers as Five Veterans Return
Goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar will miss the Netherlands women's national team’s final two World Cup qualifying matches because of a planned operation. The matches are against the Republic of Ireland on 5 June and Poland on 9 June in Almelo.
Vivianne Miedema, Chasity Grant, Lotte Keukelaar, Jill Roord and Lieske Carleer are also absent from the squad. All five missed the previous interland period because of injuries.
Returning to the squad are Daniëlle van de Donk, Dominique Janssen, Jackie Groenen, Kerstin Casparij and Caitlin Dijkstra, who together add more than 500 senior caps. Their experience follows a youthful side that in April secured two impressive results against France.
The Ireland match is played away, while the Poland fixture takes place at the home venue in Almelo. Both games are part of the final qualifying round.
The team currently leads Group A with eight points; the group winner qualifies directly for the 2027 World Cup in Brazil, while the second‑through‑fourth places advance to autumn playoffs.
