La Gantoise beats Strasbourg to win U17 Cup on debut
La Gantoise defeated RC Strasbourg 2-0 in the U17 Cup final in Vigneux-de-Bretagne on Sunday, May 24. The Belgian side lifted the trophy in their first-ever appearance in the tournament.
RC Strasbourg had reached the final as defending champions but were outplayed by La Gantoise. Goals from Wout Faes and Siebe Schrijvers sealed the victory for the Belgian team.
La Gantoise’s Wout Faes scored the opening goal in the 20th minute. Siebe Schrijvers doubled the lead in the 65th minute to secure the win. Both goals came from open play.
