Memphis Depay Returns to Full Training with Corinthians

🇳🇱
Memphis Depay took part in a full training session with Corinthians, as announced on the Brazilian club’s website. The session marks his first complete involvement since his thigh injury on 23 March. The injury kept Depay out for fourteen matches for Corinthians. He is expected to be available for the Copa Libertadores tie against Peñarol on Friday. With the World Cup approaching, Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman welcomed the update. Koeman has said he wants Depay to get minutes, whether in the United States, Mexico or Canada. Koeman also indicated that Depay could still be selected even if he is not at 100 percent fitness. In that case, the Dutch all‑time top scorer would be considered a valuable bench option. The Netherlands squad currently lacks clear first‑choice strikers. Brian Brobbey of Sunderland and Donyell Malen of AS Roma are the other leading candidates alongside Depay. Koeman has frequently deployed Malen, who is prolific in Rome, on the right wing. The coach’s options remain limited as the tournament draws near.
