Anderlecht supporters banned from Union Saint-Gilloise away games next season

🇧🇪

Royal Anderlecht will play their next-season fixtures at Union Saint-Gilloise’s Joseph Marien Stadium without away support after the Belgian Football Disciplinary Committee imposed sanctions on Friday. The decision follows unrest during last May’s Belgian Cup final at King Baudouin Stadium, where Anderlecht supporters caused damage estimated at €70,000.

The disciplinary body cited damage including 500 seats torn out or burned, graffiti, littering and vandalised toilets as grounds for the punishment. Florence Frelinx, Brussels alderwoman for Sports, confirmed the financial cost of the damage to local authorities.

The sanction applies to all competitions and covers every match at Union Saint-Gilloise’s ground scheduled for the 2026/27 season. This includes league fixtures, cup ties and any potential friendlies. In addition to the travel ban, Royal Anderlecht faces an €8,000 fine.

Club officials confirmed they may appeal the ruling within the Belgian Football Disciplinary Council framework. An appeal would transfer the case to the Professional Football Disciplinary Board for reconsideration.

Royal Anderlecht has not won at Union Saint-Gilloise’s Parc Duden since 11 February 2021, with eight defeats and two draws recorded since then. The upcoming season’s fixtures at Joseph Marien will therefore unfold without the club’s travelling fanbase present.
