Ajax secures 20‑year‑old Fouad Zahouani, a Morocco U20 champion

🇳🇱 yesterday

Fouad Zahouani, the 20‑year‑old left‑back, has officially joined Ajax, signing a contract that runs until the summer of 2029 and will initially be assigned to Jong Ajax, according to the club’s official channels. The Moroccan defender arrives from Union Touarga Sportif after 24 appearances for the Moroccan side and a recent U20 World Cup triumph.

Zahouani received his football education at the Mohammed VI Football Academy, one of the most renowned academies in Morocco. He transferred to Union Touarga Sportif in mid‑2024, after which he spent half a year with the club before the Ajax move.

During his spell at Union Touarga Sportif, Zahouani made 24 appearances and earned his senior debut for Morocco last summer. He also featured in the Morocco Under‑20 side that won the world championship the previous year.

"Ik dank God dat ik hier ben, het gevoel is geweldig," Zahouani wrote, expressing gratitude after the transfer confirmation. He added, "Elke speler droomt ervan om voor Ajax te spelen. Het is een grote club met een rijke geschiedenis," reflecting his lifelong ambition.

Earlier this week, Zahouani announced via Instagram that he would be moving to Ajax, confirming the club’s statements on social media. The post highlighted his excitement about joining the Dutch giants.

According to De , Ajax will pay five thousand and up to three thousand in bonuses for Zahouani. The financial terms underline the club’s investment in the young talent.

It is intended that the Moroccan will join the first team once he is acclimatized, allowing him to integrate gradually after his initial period with Jong Ajax. This plan signals Ajax’s long‑term vision for the defender.
