West Ham United confirm seven women's exits ahead of rebuild

🇬🇧 20 June 2026

West Ham United have confirmed that seven players from their women’s team will leave when their contracts expire at the end of June, including captain Katrina Gorry. Defender Shelina Zadorsky, who made 50 appearances and scored once against Southampton in the League Cup in December 2024, is among the departing players.

Zadorsky initially joined West Ham United on loan from Tottenham Hotspur in January 2024 before the move was made permanent six months later. She was named vice‑captain ahead of the 2024/25 season and featured prominently in one of the club’s strongest Women’s Super League campaigns.

Verena Hanshaw arrived from AS Roma in January 5 2025 and quickly became a regular starter for West Ham United. She recorded three assists in her first 12 matches and ended her spell with 33 appearances, two assists and a goal against Leicester City.

Camila Sáez spent two seasons with West Ham United, making 14 appearances in her first campaign. She spent the following year on loan at Bristol City, where she contributed two goals and two assists in 18 appearances.

Soraya Walsh made a single senior appearance during her four‑year tenure at West Ham United, supplementing her development with loan spells at Billericay Town, Watford and Hashtag United. Emily Taylor‑Brown featured twice for the Hammers before joining AFC Wimbledon on loan, helping the Dons avoid relegation and reach the Capital Women’s Cup final.

Estelle Cascarino completed a six‑month loan from Juventus at West Ham United, playing 12 matches and contributing to a defence that kept four clean sheets. She earned a Player‑of‑the‑Match accolade in a 1‑0 away victory over Liverpool in April.

Head coach Rita Guarino now faces a crucial transfer window as she seeks to reshape the squad after the loss of experience and leadership. The club will focus on rebuilding ahead of the 2026/27 season.
