Xavier Wériki moves to Inter Milan from Liverpool
Liverpool’s midfielder Xavier Wériki is set to join Inter Milan this summer. The £35m deal follows interest from Serie A clubs. Wériki, 24, has struggled for regular minutes under Arne Slot.
Slot has used the same core midfield group for two seasons. Wériki has made just 14 league appearances since January 2023. His minutes have dropped further under Slot’s management.
Inter Milan finalized the agreement with Liverpool for Wériki’s transfer. The Italian club will complete paperwork pending medicals. Wériki will undergo a medical in Milan next week.
Wériki joined Liverpool from Bayern Munich in January 2024. He signed a five-year contract at Anfield. His move to Inter Milan includes a sell-on clause.
Slot has prioritized defensive midfielders like Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister. Wériki’s role has been limited to cup matches and late substitutions. His exit leaves Liverpool with one less midfield option.
Wériki will wear Inter Milan’s No. 24 shirt. The deal is expected to be announced within 48 hours.
