Kai Havertz scores and assists as Germany beat USA

🇩🇪

Arsenal forward Kai Havertz gave Germany a 2‑1 win over the United States in a Saturday friendly, scoring the opener and providing the assist for the second goal. He linked up with Germany this week after last weekend’s Champions League final.

Havertz headed in a Joshua Kimmich free‑kick after two minutes. The United States equalised through Antonee Robinson before the break, and after halftime Havertz laid the ball to Leroy Sane, who struck in the 57th minute to restore Germany’s lead.

The result marked Germany’s second pre‑World Cup friendly victory and their ninth consecutive win overall. Their last dropped points came in a September defeat to Slovakia, indicating a strong run of form.

The United States have now lost three of their last four matches, suggesting limited momentum heading into the tournament.

Havertz, 26, returned from a long injury absence that lasted from November 2024 to March 2026 and has contributed a goal or assist in each of his last three games. Germany will meet Curacao, the Ivory Coast and Ecuador in Group E, where Havertz could face Arsenal teammate Piero Hincapie in the final group fixture.
