Ederson Replaces Injured Wesley in Brazil World Cup Squad

🇩🇪
Ederson will replace Wesley in Brazil's 2026 World Cup squad, the Brazilian FA confirmed. Ederson is an Atalanta midfielder. Wesley, a right‑back for AS Roma, missed the tournament after an MRI revealed an adductor injury sustained in a friendly against Egypt. Ederson, on the verge of a €45m move to Manchester United, will travel to the United States on Monday to join the squad. Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil are drawn in Group C with Morocco, Haiti and Scotland. Their opening match is on 14 June against Morocco, followed by Haiti on 20 June and Scotland on 25 June. The Brazilian FA said Wesley will always be considered part of the team seeking its sixth World Cup title. A photo of Ederson taken by Stuart Franklin captures him during the UEFA Champions League 2025/26 Round of 16 second leg between FC Bayern München and Atalanta BC in Munich on 18 March 2026. Another image shows Wesley celebrating a goal for AS Roma against Fiorentina on 4 May 2026, captured by Paolo Bruno, and Scotland, managed by Scott McTominay, will face Brazil in the final group game.
