Standard eyes Antoine Mazure as SL16 FC boost

🇧🇪

Standard could sign 27‑year‑old French striker Antoine Mazure for its U23 side SL16 FC this summer, after the forward posted fifteen goals and fourteen assists last season with Habay‑la‑Neuve in the D1 ACFF competition. The move would add experience to the young squad and follows a busy transfer window for the club.

After securing Bruny Nsimba, Laurens Goemaere and Dimitri Lavalée, Standard’s summer recruitment has accelerated. Goemaere arrived as captain of Club NXT, while Nsimba was officially confirmed in March.

Standard’s communication department announced Mazure’s arrival for SL16 FC after revealing Dimitri Lavalée’s first‑team signing. The club described the French attacker as a revelation in the D1 ACFF with Habay‑la‑Neuve.

Antoine Mazure said, “I am very happy and very proud to be able to sign my first professional contract with this historic club. I look forward to starting this new adventure and giving everything for this badge.” He made the statement in the SL16 FC communiqué.

The 27‑year‑old joins SL16 FC as a player over 23, bringing his goal sense and experience to the youth talents. Mazure arrives from Habay‑la‑Neuve, where he featured prominently in the D1 ACFF.

He previously played for Clermont in France. He also spent time at Niederkorn in Luxembourg.

Mazure could become the experienced figure for SL16 FC while still hoping to join Standard’s senior squad if his performances merit it. The club indicated that a promotion would depend on the first‑team’s needs.

L’Avenir Luxembourg reported that Standard is in discussion with Mazure for the U23 side. SL16 FC aims to improve its standing after two seasons battling relegation in the D1 FFA.
