Real Madrid’s loan gamble hinges on a 2026‑27 buy‑out clause
Real Madrid have set a mandatory buy‑out clause for the summer of 2026‑27 on any loan deal for centre‑back Raul Asencio, as the transfer window opens on 1 July. The club’s urgency follows the arrivals of Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries and Marc Cucurella ahead of José Mourinho’s first season back.
Konate’s signing has pushed Asencio down the Real Madrid pecking order, leaving him with very few first‑team opportunities. Another centre‑back may also arrive this summer, further reducing his chances. Consequently, the club has decided that Asencio can depart during the transfer window that opens on 1 July.
Miguel Serrano reported that Real Madrid are prepared to accept a loan move for Asencio. Any agreement must include a mandatory option to buy at the conclusion of the 2026‑27 season. The clause ensures the club secures a future transfer fee if the loan proves successful.
A distinct lack of suitors has prompted Real Madrid to relax their stance in recent days. Clubs may be more willing to sign the 23‑year‑old on an initial loan. However, there is no guarantee that this will generate the interest the Bernabeu bosses seek.
Given Real Madrid’s determination to part ways, it would be surprising if Asencio remains at the Bernabeu. The defender is capable of becoming a regular starter for several La Liga clubs. Any potential move will hinge on the asking price set by Los Blancos officials, which remains undisclosed for now.
