Barcelona and Lyon set for Champions League final in Oslo
FC Barcelona and Olympique Lyon will contest the women's Champions League final on Saturday 23 March in Oslo. The match marks the latest meeting of the two clubs in the competition's decisive game.
It will be the fourth final in which both sides have faced each other. Lyon secured the title in 2019 and 2022, while Barcelona claimed victory in 2024.
The 2024 final was won 2-0 by Barcelona at San Mamés. After the match, player Damaris Egurrola Wienke praised the champion and reflected on the clubs' histories.
Egurrola Wienke, born in the United States, raised in Spain and representing the Netherlands, noted that Lyon possess eight titles compared with Barcelona's three. Her comments highlighted the differing trophy counts between the two sides.
Lyon have reached eleven finals, winning eight of them. Across those appearances the French club has scored 19 goals and conceded eight.
These figures underline Lyon's historical dominance in the competition. Their record highlights a strong defensive and attacking balance over the years.
The upcoming showdown offers Barcelona a chance to add to their recent success while Lyon aim to extend their trophy haul. Both teams will be keen to improve their respective tallies.
Experienced players from each squad will look to influence the outcome in the Norwegian capital. The match promises a high‑quality contest between two of Europe's elite women's clubs.
