Fortuna Sittard secures Zeefuik on loan after Sierhuis exits
Fortuna Sittard have secured a season‑long loan for striker Lequincio Zeefuik from AZ, stepping in after Kaj Sierhuis departed for NEC. The Dutch club announced the deal on Thursday evening, confirming Zeefuik will join the Limburg side for the 2024‑25 campaign.
The loan mirrors Zeefuik’s previous season, when AZ sent him to another Eredivisie club on a temporary basis. Fortuna Sittard were actively searching for a replacement striker following Sierhuis’s exit, and reached an agreement with the Alkmaar side.
In the second half of the 2025/26 season, Zeefuik is slated to move on loan to Heracles Almelo. During his stint there he recorded two goals and one assist across fourteen appearances.
“I have enormous enthusiasm for this new adventure at Fortuna,” Lequincio Zeefuik said after his presentation to the club’s channels. He added that early interest from the club and positive talks with the technical director and head coach boosted his confidence.
Technical director Joris Mathijsen expressed satisfaction with the acquisition, stating, “We are delighted to add Lequincio to our squad. He is a physically strong and dynamic striker who fits perfectly into the way we want to play.”
Zeefuik pledged to give his all for Fortuna Sittard and aims to help the team achieve a successful season.
