Club Brugge set to cash in on historic €40m Tzolis deal

🇧🇪 By 4All Football Editorial ·

Christos Tzolis, the 24‑year‑old Greek winger, is on the verge of leaving Club Brugge for Arsenal in a €40 million transfer. The agreement was reached between the Belgian club and the English top club after weeks of negotiations. A medical in London is scheduled for Sunday, after which the contract will be signed.

According to , both clubs have sealed a deal that will make Tzolis the most expensive outgoing player in Club Brugge’s history. The €40 million fee reflects the market value assigned to the flank attacker by Transfermarkt. The Gunners are prepared to meet that valuation to secure the player.

The medical examination will take place in London on Sunday, and the player will travel there for the test. If no issues arise, Tzolis will sign his contract with Arsenal immediately afterwards. The final signatures are still pending, but the transfer is expected to be completed shortly.

The fee turns the summer 2024 purchase of Tzolis for €6.5 million from Fortuna Düsseldorf into a massive profit for Club Brugge. The Belgian side bought the Greek forward for a modest sum and now sells him for a multiple of that amount. This transaction sets a new benchmark for the club’s outgoing transfers.

During his two seasons at Club Brugge, Tzolis featured in 108 matches, scoring 43 goals and providing 45 assists. Those numbers underline his importance in the Jan Breydel attack. His contributions helped the team in several key fixtures and raised his profile across Europe.

Internationally, the Greek has earned 34 caps for Greece and found the net nine times. Before joining Club Brugge, he represented PAOK, Norwich City, FC Twente and Fortuna Düsseldorf. His experience at both club and country level makes him an attractive prospect for the Premier League.

The move represents a top‑flight transfer for the player and a financial triumph for Club Brugge. While Arsenal gains a versatile winger, the Belgian side must now fill the creative void left behind. The deal also demonstrates Club Brugge’s ability to develop and sell talent at a high return.
