Bologna's bold bid versus AZ's reliance on Peer Koopmeiners

🇮🇹

While Italian club Bologna is circling a fresh target, AZ continues to depend on its own midfield engine. Bologna has tabled a ten‑million‑euro offer, plus a 30 % sell‑on clause, for 26‑year‑old Peer Koopmeiners, a move reported by transfer journalist Nicolò Schira on Tuesday.

Italian media have been noting Bologna’s interest for several weeks. The club’s original focus was on Sven Mijnans before shifting to his teammate Koopmeiners.

Schira specifies that the bid comprises ten million euros and a thirty‑percent sell‑on clause. He does not reveal whether AZ has accepted the proposal.

In Italy, a contract extending to mid‑2030 is said to be prepared for the midfielder. The terms of that agreement remain confidential.

Peer Koopmeiners is the younger brother of Dutch international Teun Koopmeiners. He has become a reliable presence at AZ in recent years.

During the last two seasons he has featured in almost every match. Last season he wore the captain’s armband several times when Jordy Clasie was unavailable.

The prospective transfer would echo his brother’s step from AZ to Serie A. Such a move could mark a significant career progression for the 26‑year‑old.

The contrast between Bologna’s aggressive pursuit and AZ’s reliance on Koopmeiners underscores his rising market value. The next chapter will depend on whether the Dutch club accepts the Italian offer.
