Arsenal Near Title After 1-0 Win Over Burnley

🇬🇧 20 May 2026

Arsenal secured a 1-0 victory over Burnley at the Emirates Stadium, with Kai Havertz scoring the only goal. The win puts the Gunners on the brink of the Premier League title.

Burnley, already confirmed relegated two weeks earlier, provided little resistance as they entered the match with no chance of survival. Their defeat cemented their drop to the Championship.

The triumph ends a 22‑year wait for Arsenal to challenge for the league crown, a drought dating back to their last title in 2004. The club now sits atop the table with a narrow margin.

Arsenal lead the league by five points over Manchester City, who remain the only challengers capable of overturning the gap. City must secure a win in their final game to keep the title hopes alive.

Manchester City travel to Bournemouth, managed by former Arsenal midfielder Andoni Iraola, for their last league fixture. A draw or loss for City would hand the championship to Arsenal regardless of their own result.

If City fail to win, Arsenal will be crowned Premier League champions after the final round, concluding a season that saw the Gunners close the gap at the very end. The title race will be decided on the last day.
