Violence erupts at Platense youth match, parents attacked
A mother’s desperate cry – “¡Están los chicos, están los chicos!” – rang out as children sobbed on a Saturday afternoon while a Liga FEFI A match for the 2016 category unfolded between Platense and Club Parque Patricios. The incident, captured in videos by Todo Noticias, shows the fear that gripped families watching the game.
During the encounter, a fight broke out among adults and a father from the visiting side was visibly assaulted, an episode recorded in the same footage that later circulated online.
The video also shows several people exchanging blows while others try to pull them apart, with by‑standers repeatedly shouting to stop because children were nearby and exposed to the violence.
Witnesses reported that bottle‑throwing also occurred, although that part of the aggression was not captured on the video.
According to collected testimonies, members of the Platense barra were among those who took part in the brawl.
The same witnesses said the men had been gathered in the club’s buffet in Vicente López, where they were watching Platense’s senior match against Independiente in Avellaneda.
The episode follows a recent clash after Calamar’s loss to Talleres in the Clausura tournament, where Ignacio Vázquez confronted fans who, he claimed, insulted his family.
To date, no official statement has confirmed any arrests, nor has the Liga FEFI announced disciplinary measures in response to the incidents.
The whole episode has been described as a sad and reprehensible situation, underscoring the urgent need to protect young players from adult aggression on the pitch.
