La Coupes draw set for August 6 as CAF meets in Caire
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that the preliminary‑round draws for the 2026‑27 CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup will take place on Thursday 6 August at the CAF headquarters in Caire, Égypte, with the Confederation Cup draw at 14:00 followed by the Champions League draw at 15:00.
Representatives of clubs qualified for the Coupe and the Ligue will attend the ceremony, confirming the participation of clubs that have secured places in the preliminary stages.
La Confédération africaine de football says the event marks the official launch of the new continental campaign, signalling the start of Africa's inter‑club competitions for the 2026‑27 season.
The reigning champion will look to defend the title, aiming to retain the crown in the upcoming group phase.
All other clubs will battle through the preliminary rounds, hoping to secure a place in the group stage of the Ligue and the Coupe.
The draws, organised by CAF, underscore the importance of the continent of Africa in shaping club football calendars.
