Burnley's WSL2 launch powered by Bachteler's global experience
Burnley have announced Jackie Bachteler as the new manager ahead of their debut season in the Barclays Women’s Super League 2, with the appointment confirmed in a press release issued earlier today. The 37‑year‑old will take charge as first‑team boss as Burnley look to establish themselves in the league.
Bachteler, aged 37, will assume the role of first‑team boss. Burnley aim to cement a foothold in the league under her leadership.
She has previously held coaching positions in the United States, Finland, Spain, Cyprus, Costa Rica and Sweden. Those overseas roles have built her reputation for talent development.
WSL Full‑Time received the news through an official club statement from The Clarettes. The statement confirmed her appointment as first‑team boss.
Ross Wallace will serve as her assistant, while Ashley Vickers and Jordan Booth retain their places on the coaching staff. The trio will operate under the new manager’s direction as Burnley prepare for their inaugural WSL2 campaign.
“I’m really happy to be here. I want to be part of the community here…”, Bachteler said. She noted that the final game of last season against Stoke City attracted more than 1,000 spectators.
She described the upcoming side as organised, physical and forward‑thinking. Bachteler said she will bring her expertise to help Burnley in their quest to reach the Barclays Women’s Super League.
The club’s ambition is to climb the league ladder and establish a competitive presence. While leading Burnley into Barclays WSL2 football, Bachteler will also retain her role as a scout for the United States women’s national team.
The dual responsibility underscores her continued involvement at the international level. The juxtaposition of Burnley’s new era with Bachteler’s seasoned international perspective highlights a blend of ambition and expertise. It suggests the club is positioning itself to make a strong impression in its debut WSL2 season.
