Dick Lukkien highlights Tygo Land and Dies Janse departures
FC Groningen head coach Dick Lukkien has praised the contributions of midfielder Dies Janse, confirming his departure next season.
Lukkien described Janse as an "incredible talent" in a recent interview, acknowledging the inevitable loss when a player leaves. "That’s something we will miss, yes," he stated, reflecting on the 2024-25 exit.
The Dutch coach also advised PSV loanee Tygo Land to consider leaving Groningen ahead of next season. Lukkien suggested Land would benefit from more playing time elsewhere, though no formal decision has been made.
Janse, 21, has been a standout performer for Groningen this season, featuring prominently in their midfield. His development has drawn attention, with several clubs monitoring his progress.
Land, 20, joined on loan from PSV in summer 2024 and has made 15 league appearances for Groningen so far. His future at the club remains uncertain as he seeks regular first-team football.
Lukkien’s remarks underscore the competitive nature of squad decisions at FC Groningen, balancing player development with team needs.
Both players are out of contract with their parent clubs in 2025, adding urgency to their situations. Groningen will look to build on this season’s progress while addressing potential departures.
