Feyenoord’s €9m gamble on towering striker Nacho Ferri
On 27 June 2026, Feyenoord announced a €9 million agreement with Westerlo for 21‑year‑old Spanish striker Ignacio ‘Nacho’ Ferri, a 1.92‑metre forward who netted eleven competitive goals last season and is set to join the club for the upcoming campaign in the Kuip.
Feyenoord are looking to bolster their attack after the departure of Ayase Ueda is anticipated following the World Cup. The club believes Ferri’s height and physical presence will add a new dimension to their forward line.
Ferri began his senior career in Spain with Ontinyent and UD Alzira before joining the youth ranks of German side Eintracht Frankfurt. He never broke into the first team at Frankfurt.

Eintracht Frankfurt subsequently loaned Ferri to Belgian club KV Kortrijk, after which Westerlo secured his services permanently. At Westerlo he recorded eleven competitive goals in the previous season. The transfer fee is reported to be close to nine million euros. The agreement was reached between Feyenoord and Westerlo. Mikos Gouka, a long‑time follower of Feyenoord, has highlighted the club’s strategic push in the market. He notes that the signing aligns with the team’s ambition to maintain a strong attacking line. For Feyenoord, Ferri is expected to deliver goals in the Kuip next season, potentially filling the void left by Ueda. Westerlo will benefit from the influx of funds to reinvest in their squad.
