Hélder Malheiro Ends Refereeing Career After 22 Years

Hélder Malheiro retired as a professional referee after overseeing the 1-1 draw between Casa Pia and Rio Ave in the 34th round of the Liga Portugal Betclic.

The match marked the final appointment for the Lisbon Football Association official, concluding his on‑field duties in Portuguese top‑flight football.

Over his career, Malheiro took part in 465 professional fixtures, of which 267 were as the main referee.

His involvement in the refereeing community spanned 22 years, during which he served various roles within the AF Lisboa structure.

The Liga Portugal released an official statement thanking Malheiro for his commitment, dedication and contribution to professional football.

The statement also wished him success in his future personal and professional endeavors.
