Ralf Rangnick names Austria World Cup squad with Alaba

Ralf Rangnick, the head coach of Austria, released the national team’s World Cup squad on Monday. The tournament will be staged in the United States, Mexico and Canada during June and July.

The list features defender David Alaba, who is currently with Real Madrid. Alaba’s inclusion adds experience to Austria’s back line.

Another defender named David Affengruber also made the cut. Affengruber earned his place after a strong season with Elche.

Alaba continues his club career at Real Madrid, while Affengruber spent the season with Elche. Both players bring recent top‑flight experience to the national side.

The announcement came on Monday, giving the selected players a few weeks before the competition to prepare. Rangnick’s squad will now focus on training ahead of the World Cup.
