Manuel Neuer becomes record Pokal winner with Bayern Munich

🇩🇪 28 May 2026

Manuel Neuer led Bayern Munich to victory in the German Cup final against Borussia Mönchengladbach at Berlin's Olympiastadion on Saturday. The 4-2 win marked Neuer’s sixth Pokal triumph, extending his record as the competition’s most successful goalkeeper.

Neuer celebrated alongside his teammates on the pitch immediately after the final whistle. The Bayern captain joined the team’s jubilant celebrations, jumping among his colleagues in the center of the pitch.

Borussia Mönchengladbach pushed Bayern early, with Florian Neuhaus forcing a save from Neuer in the opening minutes. Bayern responded through Jamal Musiala, whose first-half strike gave the club the lead.

Sergio Sabaly equalized for Gladbach just before halftime, leveling the match at 1-1. The Bundesliga side’s pressure continued into the second half, but Neuer’s commanding presence in goal prevented further breakthroughs.

Bayern regained the lead through substitute Leroy Sané, who scored in the 56th minute. Kingsley Coman added a third in the 60th, sealing the victory before Yann Sommer pulled one back for Gladbach in stoppage time.

Neuer’s leadership was evident throughout the match, with the goalkeeper organizing the defense and making key interventions. His sixth Pokal title cements his legacy as one of the club’s most decorated players.

The win completed a domestic double for Bayern, following their Bundesliga title earlier this season. The club now prepares for their upcoming Champions League campaign.

Neuer’s record extends beyond the Pokal, as he remains Bayern’s most successful player in the competition’s history. His achievements highlight his longevity and consistency at the highest level.
