Van Hanegem questions Aké's current form for Oranje

Willem van Hanegem has questioned the current form of Nathan Aké during his appearance on VP's Willem & Wessel. The Manchester City defender made his debut for the Netherlands national team in the match against Tunisia.

"Aké was a good player before, but now it's over, I think. I'm not saying he isn't a good player," Van Hanegem stated. He did not elaborate on his remarks beyond the assessment of Aké's recent performances.

Henk ten Cate offered a possible explanation for Aké's lack of impact. "He is not in form, but that has to do with the fact that he has played little," Ten Cate said. He linked Aké's limited playing time at club level to his subdued displays for Oranje.

Van Hanegem and Ten Cate shared their views during the VP's Willem & Wessel broadcast. The show covered recent Oranje performances, including the match against Tunisia. Aké's debut was part of the broader discussion on the national team's defensive options.

The timing of the remarks coincides with ongoing debates about Oranje's defensive structure ahead of upcoming fixtures. Aké's role in the national setup remains a topic of scrutiny as the team prepares for future challenges.
