Club Brugge clinches 20th Belgian title, STVV third secured
Club Brugge secured their twentieth Belgian Pro League title after a 2-2 draw at KV Mechelen. The win puts them four points clear of Union Saint-Gilloise with one matchday remaining, making the title mathematically unassailable.
The match in Mechelen ended level at 2-2, with both sides sharing the points. The result confirmed Brugge’s lead and left Union unable to close the gap.
With only one round left, the four‑point margin means no other club can overtake Brugge. The championship race therefore concludes with Club Brugge crowned champions.
STVV had already guaranteed third place before the final round and retained that position after the last matches. Their consistent performance secured the Europa League qualification spot.
Anderlecht, previously outside the top four, secured fourth place following the final day results. This finish also grants them a place in the Champions Play‑offs.
The top four clubs—Club Brugge, Union Saint‑Gilloise, STVV and Anderlecht—will now enter the Champions Play‑offs, earning European competition tickets for the upcoming season.
The league’s final matchday will conclude the season, with clubs focusing on preparation for European fixtures.
