Juventus push to halve €40m price tag on centre‑back Muharemovic

🇮🇹

In Italy, Juventus are reportedly working to reduce US Sassuolo Calcio’s €40 million valuation of Bosnian centre‑back Tarik Muharemovic, a move that would cut the cash outlay from €20 million – the amount due under Juventus’ existing 50 percent sell‑on clause – with negotiations slated for this week.

Muharemovic, a Bosnia and Herzegovina international, returned to Juventus after an impressive two‑season spell on loan with Sassuolo. He originally emerged from Juventus’ Next Gen academy before moving to the Serie A side.

Bologna’s Jhon Lucumi has also been linked with Juventus as a centre‑back alternative. Lucumi is valued at €25 million, a price Juventus consider higher than a potential reduced deal for Muharemovic.

The negotiation could be eased by the presence of former Sassuolo chief Giovanni Carnevali, who now serves as Juventus’ chief executive officer. Carnevali’s familiarity with US Sassuolo Calcio hopes to make talks with the Neroverdi straightforward.

Sassuolo have reportedly set a €40 million price tag on Muharemovic. Because Juventus own a 50 percent sell‑on clause, the club would normally need to pay €20 million in cash to re‑sign the defender. Calciomercato.com Juventus are seeking to lower the €40 million valuation, which would consequently reduce the €20 million fee.

Club officials from both sides are expected to meet this week to discuss the transfer. If an agreement is reached, Juventus could secure the centre‑back without exceeding their budgeted outlay.
