Club Brugge Secures 20th League Title After 2-2 Draw

🇧🇪 22 May 2026

Club Brugge secured their 20th Belgian Pro League title after a 2-2 draw with KV Mechelen. The draw was enough because Union Saint‑Gilloise failed to win their match in Gent.

The encounter at the Achter de Kazerne stadium turned into a rollercoaster, with both sides exchanging blows. Club Brugge opened the scoring before KV Mechelen equalised twice. Two of the goals against Brugge came after mistakes by goalkeeper Van den Heuvel.

Despite the late equaliser, Brugge could not find a winner, and the match ended level. The point kept the club at the summit of the table.

Union Saint‑Gilloise's inability to secure a victory in Gent meant that Brugge's lead could not be overtaken. Their result confirmed Brugge as champions.

Club chairman Bart Verhaeghe expressed pride after the achievement. He highlighted the collective effort that delivered the 20th title.

The championship marks the club's 20th league title, reinforcing its status among Belgium's most successful teams. The club now looks forward to celebrations with its supporters.

Fans are expected to gather in Brugge for the title parade next week. The team will aim to build on the success in the upcoming season.
