Mary Earps signs two-year deal with London City Lionesses

🇬🇧 20 June 2026

London City Lionesses have secured the services of former England goalkeeper Mary Earps on a two‑year contract, marking her return to the Women's Super League. The 33‑year‑old joins the club after two seasons with Paris Saint‑Germain and a five‑year spell at Manchester United.

Earps helped Manchester United lift the 2024 FA Cup, their first major trophy, before moving to Paris Saint‑Germain. During her time in France she added further experience at the highest level of European club football.

She was named FIFA Best Goalkeeper of the Year in both 2022 and 2023. In 2023 she also collected the Women's Super League Golden Glove and the World Cup Golden Glove.

Earps retired from international duty five weeks before England defended their European crown. She had been pivotal in England’s 2022 European Championships triumph and their run to the 2023 World Cup final, where she publicly criticised Nike’s refusal to supply goalkeeper shirts.

Speaking on her arrival, Earps said the club’s values align with her own ambitions. “I’m over the moon, I’m really looking forward to it. The club’s values represent what I want to represent. They are passionate about what I want to achieve and change the game in a positive way.”

The signing is London City Lionesses’ first statement of intent this summer. The club is also reported to be in talks with Barcelona duo Alexia Putellas and Mapi León.

Related reports note Real Madrid’s top scorer Caroline Weir moving to OL Lyonnes. Chicago Stars have signed Leila Ouahabi after her departure from Manchester City. Bayern Munich are close to securing Germany international Sarah Mattner.
